Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at camrharris@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We offer both standard (rotary) slashing and flail slashing. The right choice depends on your priorities—speed or pasture health.

Which is faster?

Standard slashing is the quicker option, covering more ground in less time. If you need to clear large areas efficiently, this is the best choice.

Which leaves a finer chop and better mulch?

Flail slashing chops grass and weeds into smaller pieces, which break down faster and return nutrients to the soil. This improves soil health and moisture retention.

Will slashing affect pasture regeneration?

Yes, but differently.

  • Standard slashing can leave strips of rotting vegetation which may slow regrowth in some areas.
  • Flail slashing spreads the cut material evenly, reducing smothering and promoting faster pasture regeneration.

Which is better for my soil?

Flail slashing provides better mulch coverage, protecting the soil from erosion and helping it retain moisture. This is ideal for long-term pasture health.

Which option should I choose?

  • Choose standard slashing when speed is your priority.
  • Choose flail slashing for improved soil health, moisture retention and faster pasture recovery.

Lantana spreads quickly, reducing pasture productivity and making land difficult to manage. We offer a range of control options, including mechanical removal, flail slashing, foliage spraying and cut-stump or basal bark chemical treatments. The best approach often combines methods for long-term control.

What’s the best way to remove dense lantana?

  • Excavator with Claw – Best for thick infestations. This removes lantana, including its root system, reducing regrowth. However, soil disturbance can occur, so follow-up management is important.
  • Flail Slashing – Effective for controlling lantana in areas where it is spreading but not fully established. It chops and spreads material evenly, helping pasture recovery, but regrowth is likely without chemical follow-up.

How can chemical treatments assist in controlling lantana?

  • Foliage Spraying – For medium to large infestations, herbicide is sprayed directly onto lantana leaves. This is a cost-effective method but may require follow-up applications. Best used when plants are actively growing.
  • Cut-Stump Treatment – After mechanical removal or slashing, applying herbicide to the cut stems prevents regrowth. This is highly effective and reduces the need for repeat treatments.
  • Basal Bark Spraying – For smaller or scattered lantana, applying herbicide directly to the lower stems allows the plant to absorb the chemical and die off gradually. This is low-impact but slower.

Which method is best for organic treatment?

For organic properties where chemical use is restricted, mechanical methods are the best approach:

  • Excavator with Claw – Provides complete lantana removal, including roots, reducing regrowth naturally.
  • Flail Slashing – Helps control lantana by cutting it back and promoting pasture recovery but requires repeated slashing to exhaust the plant.
  • Hand Removal & Mulching – Smaller infestations can be controlled manually with the removed plant material left to mulch and suppress regrowth. Grass Force does NOT offer hand removal but will provide mulching.

Note: Lantana is resilient and non-chemical methods often require repeated efforts. In some cases natural competition from pasture grasses and targeted grazing can help suppress regrowth over time.

Which method is best for long-term control?

A combination of mechanical removal and chemical treatment usually provides the best results:

• Excavator removal clears the bulk of the lantana so it doesn’t return as quickly.

• Foliage or cut-stump herbicide treatment stops regrowth and prevents new outbreaks.

• Regular follow-up inspections ensure new lantana plants are controlled before they spread.

Do we work in hard-to-reach areas?

Yes! We specialise in controlling lantana in difficult terrain, using the right equipment and techniques to access and clear remote or rugged locations effectively.

Which method should you choose?

  • For large, dense infestations → Excavator removal + chemical follow-up is best.
  • For scattered lantana growth → Flail slashing + chemical treatment provides control with minimal soil disturbance.
  • For broad-scale infestations → Foliage spraying is a cost-effective solution but may require multiple applications.
  • For organic treatment → Excavator removal, flail slashing and repeated manual control are the best options.

We specialise in tractor-attached ripper pipe laying, a faster, more cost-effective alternative to traditional trenching. Our method installs poly pipe up to 2 inches (50mm) in diameter at depths of 250mm to 400mm, depending on soil conditions.

How much faster is ripper pipe laying compared to trenching?

  • Our tractor method: Installing 500 metres of pipe (including pre-ripping and installing joiners) takes approximately 4 hours (soil and condition depedent).
  • Traditional excavator trenching: Digging, laying and backfilling the same 500 metres takes around 16 hours.

What are the key benefits of our tractor ripper pipe-laying service?

  • 10x faster installation – Get the job done in a fraction of the time compared to traditional trenching.
  • Up to 90% cost savings – Less time on-site means significantly lower labour and equipment costs.
  • Minimal ground disturbance – No need for deep trenching or major land disruption.
  • Ideal for irrigation and water pipelines – A quick, efficient solution for farms and properties.

Are there any limitations?

  • Joiner installation takes slightly longer as pipes are joined underground (10 minutes per join vs 3-5 minutes for surface joins).
  • Not suitable for very rocky or highly compacted soils where a trench might be required.
  • Not suitable where tractor access is not possible.

Why Choose Us?

We specialise in fast, efficient, and affordable pipe installation, using the best equipment for the job.
